An amendment to the law is currently being discussed in the Chamber of Deputies, which could definitively end not only den hunting, but also the temporary keeping of foxes for the purpose of training hunting dogs.
- Amendment by David Pražák (ANO) – prohibits den hunting in natural dens where foxes raise their young. Together with the closed season (March to June), we consider this to be sufficient protection for fox cubs.
- Amendments by Andrej Babiš (ANO) and Jana Patková (Pirates) – propose a complete ban on all forms of den hunting (including invasive raccoon dogs) and additionally prohibit the keeping of foxes in captivity.
A blanket ban on den hunting would be an example of ideologically motivated legislation that ignores biological reality and the practical need for predator control in a cultural landscape.
