Hunting Dog Culture
This website and its associated initiative are dedicated to preserving hunting dogs across Europe within their traditional fields of work, while also promoting and supporting efforts to secure their recognition as intangible cultural heritage.
Four dimensions of traditional hunting with dogs
Hunting in general, and therefore also hunting with dogs, needs balance between the four dimensions of necessity, sport, fellowship and art. If we as a whole always contribute to these four dimensions, we will preserve hunting dogs in their entirety and traditional form.

Necessity
Hunters perform essential duties for society, including disease prevention, population management, food procurement and species protection – and for these responsibilities they rely on skilled hunting dogs.

Sport
The sporting dimension brings ethics and self-discipline into hunting with dogs. The pursuit of ever-better results under a strict set of rules distinguishes hunters from poachers and ensures high standards in the training and handling of hunting dogs.

Fellowship
Unity and camaraderie create a strong community that supports one another and provides the social framework for hunting, training, events and competitions across borders. Traditions are preserved, and knowledge is passed on.

Art
The training, hunting with and breeding of hunting dogs represents an art form that has grown over many generations. The work with dogs has, throughout history, been portrayed in art, music, film and a wide range of artisanal disciplines.
Take action for hunting dogs
It is time to act and to unite all dog hunters in Europe.
What can I do?
We will post latest information about actions you can support on this website. Here are some suggestions what you can do on a local and personal level:

Support all Dog Hunters
Whatever specifical hunting method you use or which breeds you prefer, never look down on other forms of traditional (natural) hunting with dogs. Support other hunters who struggle with animal rights activists in their activities against misinformation.

Share your Story
We hunt with dogs, and we are proud of it. Show your passion, your hard work and your beautiful working dogs to the public. Inspire others with your enthusiasm, take young hunters with you, and train them in ethical and traditional hunting skills. Share your knowledge!

Know and Protect your Rights
Free personal development, general freedom of action, and participation in traditional activities are human rights. Fight politically against bans and restrictions, and defend yourself against attacks and insults from anti-hunting organizations with the help of a lawy
